A. What did you learn (specifically)?

1. Displayed homework assignments
2. Worked with a partner in an improv scene on Preoccupation to extend our homework character but NOT them specifically; just their attributes/essence
3. The focus was to be preoccupied with one's thoughts and maintain the essence of your icon within the improv space

Exercise Steps --->
a) Jon places the partners in a breakout room for 1 min 15 secs to prepare for an improv scene
b) Partners establish where they are (if applicable, the atmosphere, and must happen BEFORE you begin speaking)
c) Partners establish what they are doing
d) Partners establish the relationship between them in conjunction with where they are and what they're doing
e) Partner #1 is COMPLETELY VERBAL and EXCESSIVELY TALKING about what they're doing which is in relationship to where they are; allows their own preoccupation to occur
f) Partner #2 is COMPLETELY SILENT (can make sounds, but NO WORDS) and TOTALLY FOCUSED on their preoccupation (stay in your own world)
g) BOTH partners must maintain complete involvement in what they are doing
h) Partner #2 NEVER becomes part of Partner #1's preoccupation
i) Keep the activity going and keep the relationship status
j) No conflict with each other develops

B. How did the learning affect me?

The learning again helped with pacing and truly establishing the environment before trying to rush into a scene!  We also spent some time getting into the "voice" of our icon, and the learning gave me further insight on how to pull from their essence and replicate their voice based on certain observations:

Of Voice quality, ask these questions --->
a) Soft or loud?
b) Fast or slow?
c) Energetic or chill?

Of Voice rhythm/tempo, observe--->
a) smooth or jagged?
b) placement and musculature of voice

Rhythm is a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound

Tempo is the rate or speed of motion or activity; pace

C. Did Jon say anything quotable?

"Specificity pulls you into the activity!" "Be SPECIFIC in your activity; it doesn't get SPECIFIC until you can SEE it!" "Tempos can change, but they live on the rhythm!"

HOMEWORK

Do a household chore; be SPECIFIC, and remember to establish the room!
