Significance of symbols Empty Significance of symbols

Wed Aug 05, 2020 10:28 pm

all genres are formulas.
“ you don’t have to be right, you just have to get a feel for them”
The scenario/character joshua had was one of the more challenging ones to interpret/analyze.

Key takeaways from this class were to not put punctuations on your work. It’s not done.
Kind of like how works of art/masterpieces are never really done. It can always be added onto, and we can always discover more about characters just as we can always discover more about ourselves.
“we just got to get some heart into them”

I really connected with his character, in her powerful powerlessness. her mature innocence.
How there’s an aspect of “fending off the dangers of beauty”

statuesque, frozen in time yet craving movement.

I enjoyed going deep once again and making discoveries.

trail to the cheeze

don’t try to make story from symbols or even make them literal.
example: a key ring without the keys— means that the key ring is not functioning properly and therefore symbolically that they are not functioning properly. don’t miss a clue by overthinking and stepping past the obvious.

we are looking for archetypes that are classically developed.
(Shakespearean and Jungian)
The Shakespearean archetype:
Big lunk— romantic hero but is missing a heroic quality
innocent babe— tragic character, death caused by for ex, naivety
The flawed ruler.
The bright young thing— takes matters into their own hands
The malign influence— hatred jealousy or temper
sidekick or clever servant
imp of mischief— Misleads often for amusement sake
The mistreated villain
The powerful woman
figure of fun
comic relief
The wise fool
tragedies minion— manipulated by malign influence
The narrator

I also found: star crossed lover. Tragic hero. Scapegoat.

in class, we paid more attention to how to lead another and therefore ourselves through this process.
three breaths, relaxation and arrive as the witness, be there and see your person, bring the finger up and begin tapping and approaching the person until 1 foot away, and project finger onto them and touch them in your minds eye.
then as though we are there with the person we begin to lead them through different sensation explorations,
such as observe smell the hair, look at the neck, how are the teeth.
Reminders to take your time and allow things to come.
you can start at the face and go where it takes you, see it in your head. If you think it’s important, get the detail, be in the world with them, gather.
when you do it for yourself, experience it and know where to go. Get to a place of no resistance so that it streams and flows.

together we came up with tag words.
A huge importance was one of the symbols that was described that let us to the big theme “ fall from grace”
The idea is to find the archetype and profile the character.
in the end the best description was despair of redemption.
we looked up the definition of these words.
—hopelessness of clearing a debt.—

for these classes, I felt like I had a good idea about the dichotomy in layers of the characters.
I did miss the most important symbol for this last class but nevertheless still had gotten a pretty good feel about where he was at.
The power of symbols is incredible.

I am unsure if I can stream like this to find objects.
I may have to do some extra work.
